Continuing Legal Education Courses

Innovative Discovery, LLC is pleased to offer to clients and prospective students a suite of Continuing Legal Education courses which help firms and corporations accomplish two necessary tasks: to help wade through complex jargon and demystify the realm of computer forensics, and to meet standard education requirements for those required to receive CLE credits.

In 2008, Innovative Discovery, LLC offers two courses for those required to maintain CLE credits throughout their career.

Course 1: Introduction to Electronically Stored Information and Digital Forensics.

This course is 60 minutes in length, and covers basic topics such as:

• An overview and history of computer forensics
• Forensic methodologies
• Common applications and trends in the industry

This course, administered as a lecture and discussion, is taught at the client’s own site, and all resources and training materials are provided at no charge. This is an introductory level course that awards students with one hour of CLE credit, and it will be modified and updated various times throughout the year with changes in the industry and technological advances in the field.

Course 2: Overview of Forensic Procedures and Collection

A Comprehensive Course, is a 180-minute course which is administered by lecture, discussion and an intensive scenario-based practical exercise phase. This course covers the following topics:

• History of computer forensics
• Types of electronically stored information (ESI)
• Data and Metadata overview
• Types of Forensic Collections
• Common applications and “hands-on” walkthroughs
• Forensic methodologies and trends in market
• Chain of Custody and documentation

This course ranges from introductory topics to intermediate and advanced level concepts; and it affords students the opportunity to conduct real-world collection scenarios in a controlled classroom environment. The equipment, software and training material are all provided for use at no charge, and this course will be modified as changes in procedures and processes become the norm.

Innovative Discovery, LLCs Continuing Legal Education courses seek to help litigators and support staff to have a better understanding of the evidence collection process, allowing them to properly vet vendors, software, and engagements.
